Update October 20th, 2025:Authorities have confirmed that truffles served at the luxury Stockholm restaurant Coco & Carmen tested positive for Listeria, identifying it as the likely source of the outbreak. Laboratory results showed that all six tested truffle samples (delivered, prepared, and frozen in July) contained elevated levels of the bacteria.
Officials are now tracing the origin of the truffle through an international alert system to determine where it was purchased and produced. Comparative analyses are also being conducted by the National Food Agency and the Public Health Agency to confirm whether the Listeria strain found in patients matches that detected in the samples. Results from these tests are expected within a month.
More than 150 people sought medical attention in connection with the outbreak, which began in late September.

October 1st, 2025:
A luxury restaurant in Östermalm, Stockholm, has been linked to a food poisoning outbreak involving listeria, resulting in at least four cases of sepsis and dozens more hospitalized. The incident has prompted the temporary closure of the establishment as authorities investigate the source of the contamination.
The outbreak has affected numerous patrons who dined at the restaurant, with around 60 reports of suspected food poisoning filed with Stockholm's environmental administration. The affected individuals reportedly consumed a 14-course tasting menu, though the specific dish responsible for the outbreak has not yet been identified. The restaurant is cooperating with health officials and has closed its doors temporarily, with plans to reopen once the investigation is complete.
The issue came to light after several guests sought medical attention, leading to the confirmation of listeria infections by Smittskydd Stockholm. The health authority has since reached out to other patrons who visited the restaurant during the affected period. The investigation is ongoing, and the restaurant is expected to resume operations next week, pending the results of the inquiry.
