Trader Joe’s Chicken, Lentil, & Caramelized Onion Pilaf - Public Health alert due to the presence of rocks

1 year ago source fsis.usda.gov

Outbreak

United States

The FSIS has issued a public health alert concerning a possible foreign matter contamination in Trader Joe's frozen ready-to-eat chicken pilaf product. The product, suspected to contain rocks, was distributed nationwide to Trader Joe's grocery stores. One consumer reported a dental injury from consuming the product.

The affected product is:
- 14-oz. plastic packages containing “Trader Joe’s Chicken, Lentil, & Caramelized Onion Pilaf WITH SAFFRON BASMATI RICE, DARK CHICKEN MEAT, DATES & GOLDEN RAISINS.”

This product was produced on various dates from November 1, 2023, through January 19, 2024, and bears the establishment number “P-45322” inside of the USDA mark of inspection.

A recall was not requested as the product is no longer available for purchase. However, FSIS is concerned that some of the product may still be in consumers' freezers. Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume them.

In case you experienced harm from extraneous materials, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve issues and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance.
