Yesterday my fiance and I went to Back Yard Burgers for the first time. Neither of us had ever been to a back yard burger prior to this visit, so we wanted to try it out for the first time. We both ordered the same thing, a... See More steakhouse burger with a drink. When we first ordered our drinks my fiance forgot to mention that he didn't want any ice with his drink, and I forgot to mention that I would like light ice. Regardless, the manager (who took our order) was instantly mad at this fact. I doubt they tainted our food in anyway, but it makes me wonder. Anyways, after eating my sandwich halfway I decided to throw it away because I didn't like it. My fiance on the other-hand finished his burger until it was all gone. My fiance started to feel sick only after a few hours had passed, however the sickness went away later on that night for him. I on the other-hand started to get this gut wrenching feeling to my stomach later on that night. I couldn't think about food without getting sick to the stomach. I felt like I had a fever all night, I couldn't sleep, I had a migraine, and I was throwing up. This mixed in with the constant stops to the restroom with diarrhea did not help the issue. All day today I seem to have the same issues, only it seems like it's getting worse. I will never eat at a back yard burger in my life again. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Migraine, Fever See Less

Their broccoli & tomato quiche. As I write this, it was yesterday. The only intake that was different from my partner. Post pandemic, we're careful about handling, sanitising etc. 100% it was the quiche. Lower abdominal cramps 8hrs after ingestion. SEVERE, doubled up. Emptied out 4 times... See More with cramping over 2 hours until it was just brown water. 'Dire' diarrhea. Subsequently short-slept. Weary the following day. I feel like the remaining half of this quiche should go for testing, the store reprimanded & fined, and I should have ALDI pay me at least a modern full days wage (circa £200) compensation, and a complimentary voucher, though I think this is just a reporting hub that won't yield a legit actioned result for the consumer. Following this report, and in an ideal world, ALDI's remaining batch of quiches would be immediately removed from that store. Imagine the consequences of an ill/elderly/infirm consumer suffering this poisoning. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Cramps See Less

The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) and Huntley Community School District 158 announced the investigation of a recent outbreak of Shiga Toxin-Producing E. coli (STEC) at Huntley High School. There have been six confirmed cases of STEC, all involving students. The initial case was detected on... See More Sunday, September 17. To date, the origin of the illnesses is unknown. The MCDH is overseeing the situation for potential cases; no other STEC cases are known in McHenry County outside of this outbreak.

Officials from Huntley High School are collaborating with the MCDH, continuing their examination of possible exposures both inside and outside the school, since the source of the outbreak remains unidentified. Due to E. coli's highly contagious characteristics, students are urged to wash their hands regularly. The school has also adopted preemptive steps to maintain a secure environment, such as displaying handwashing signs around the school and installing hand sanitizer stations in every classroom and communal area.

To prevent and stop the spread of infection, the MCDH recommends washing hands with soap and water when preparing and eating food, having contact with animals or their environment, and after bathroom use or changing a diaper; avoiding swallowing water from ponds, lakes, and untreated swimming pools; and washing and cooking foods properly and avoid unpasteurized (raw) dairy products and juices. Those infected should not handle, prepare, or cook food for others until 48 hours after symptoms have resolved.

In case you are experiencing E. coli symptoms such as watery diarrhea (often bloody), vomiting; stomach cramps; and mild fever, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
