French dairy company Mons has issued a recall for its Saint Nectaire Fermier au lait cru cheese due to a potential Listeria contamination. The product has been distributed across France through Lagardere and Crémiers Fromagers.

The recalled product is the Saint Nectaire Fermier au lait cru cheese under the brand Mons. The product comes in a 210g portion, packaged in either Kraft paper or paraffin paper. The affected batches bear the lot number 240400527 and have a best before date between February 17, 2024, and March 31, 2024 and also the lots with dates between March 14, 2024 and March 31, 2024. The product carries the UPC 3760028500339 and is marked with the health mark FR 42.232.001 CE.

The recall was initiated following an analysis that showed a Listeria monocytogenes count of less than 10 UFC/g. Listeria monocytogenes is the bacterium responsible for causing listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women.
