Magic Mushroom Gummies, Chocolate Bars, and Syrup recalled due to Dangerous Psychedelic Compounds

1 month ago source cdph.ca.gov

United States

TRE House brand Magic Mushroom gummies, chocolate bars, and syrup recalled due to presence of Dangerous Psychedelic Compounds. These products, distributed to retailers such as smoke shops and sold online, according to The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) may cause severe illness, hospitalization, or even death.

Testing showed that TRE House products contained a substance similar to psilocin, which is classified by the DEA as a Schedule I drug. Every product tested included 4-Acetoxy-DET (4-Acetoxy-N, N-diethyltryptamine), and many also had 4-Acetoxy-DMT (4-Acetoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine). These compounds are illegal psychedelic substances.

The recalled products include:
- TRE House Magic Mushroom Chocolate Bars in Peanut Butter, Chocolate Milk, and Fruity Cereal flavors (1.76 ounces)
- Gummies in Watermelon Wonder, Sour Tropical, and Strawberry Dream flavors (2.12 ounces)
- Strawberry Gelato Syrup (4 ounces).

Each product has a specific UPC code, and more than 1,000 pounds of gummies have been embargoed and destroyed.

The issue was discovered through laboratory testing, which found the presence of illegal psychedelics 4-Acetoxy-DET and 4-Acetoxy-DMT. The CDPH is investigating TRE House and their contract manufacturers, with potential enforcement actions pending. The recall was published on December 11th.
