Recall notice

Valle Import & Export LLC Chorizo Olanchano - recalled due to production without the benefit of inspection

2 years ago source fsis.usda.gov

United States

The FSIS announced the recall of approximately 21,105 pounds of raw pork chorizo products by Valle Import and Export LLC because they were produced without the benefit of federal inspection. This product was shipped to retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of this product.

The recalled product is:
- 14-oz. plastic tub containers containing "Chorizo Olanchano Mezcla de chorizo Centroamericano Centroamerican Brand Chorizo Mix."

This product was produced in the owner's home from October 1, 2021, through October 18, 2023 and bears a false mark of inspection with establishment number "EST. 1150," which does not exist. Some products were sold in retail displays without a label.

The problem was discovered during FSIS surveillance activities. FSIS determined that the firm produced the pork chorizo products without the benefit of federal inspection.

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased the affected product are urged not to consume it.
