Casa de Campo Resort and Villas, La Romana, Dominican Republic

La Romana, 22000 La Romana, Dominican Republic

Reporting a severe, life-threatening food poisoning outbreak that occurred during our recent stay at Casa de Campo Resort & Villas. On May 25-May 31, 2026, our party dined at Minitas Day Club. Three people in our group ate a clam dish where the clams were not naturally opened up, meaning they were manually opened up by the staff. Within 2 days, all three of us became violently ill. This was not a typical case of stomach flu. My husband and I ended up battling a severe, concurrent infection of Shigella and H. pylori. The Shigella infection actually breached the gastrointestinal tract and entered the bloodstream, triggering systemic sepsis and severe acute anemia. It was a terrifying medical emergency, and he almost died. On top of that, we are now having to undergo intense antibiotic treatment for the H. pylori, which is incredibly dangerous and linked to long-term risks of stomach cancer if left untreated. We reached out to Casa de Campo management immediately to warn them, but they have completely ignored us and haven't responded back. This is completely unacceptable for a luxury resort of this caliber. Because this is a major public health hazard, our doctor and hospital has contacted the CDC, and they have already contacted me, and I have officially reported the outbreak to them. The venue needs to be thoroughly investigated immediately before someone else gets hurt or loses their life. I am expecting a prompt response regarding how this is being handled. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain, Fever, Cramps, Chills, Headache, Gas
