Severe Sepsis After Spaghetti - Olive Garden, Albuquerque New Mexico

19 hours ago reported by user-vdgwg668 business

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, Juan Tabo Boulevard Northeast, Albuquerque, NM, USA

601 Juan Tabo Boulevard Northeast, Albuquerque, 87123 New Mexico, United States

On 3/10/26 my wife picked up carryout, a spaghetti and meatball dinner which included breadsticks and a salad. We ate it that evening. The next morning I felt queasy and couldn't finish my breakfast but completed my day. At 4:00 a.m. on 3/12 I was extremely sick and throwing up. By mid-morning I was becoming confused and disoriented so my wife called a nurse helpline. When I asked if our dog, who passed away last August, was okay, she was instructed to call 911. I was taken by ambulance to the emergency room and spent three nights in the hospital. The diagnosis was severe sepsis.
On 3/14 my wife became ill and was throwing up, but did not become nearly as ill as I and did not require medical attention.
The strangest part of it is that I do not even remember becoming ill, and the two days prior to that are very, very fuzzy. I have read that in severe sepsis, toxins created by the pathogens can cross the blood-brain barrier and cause memory issues. I was still having trouble concentrating and remembering anything for several days after returning home and did not even feel close to normal until 3/23. My wife did not feel close to normal until 3/24. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting
