Norovirus from Pizza Slice - Park Pizza Co, Charleston South Carolina

10 years ago reported by user-gfjfj988 business

Park Pizza Co, East Montague Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405, USA

1028 East Montague Avenue, Charleston, 29405 South Carolina, United States

On Tuesday, November 24th 2015, I ordered a 10" pizza from Park Pizza Company with pepperoni, pineapple and jalapeños. When I got the pizza it was soggy and the crust didn't seem to be completely cooked. I thought "maybe I'm just being a snob, I'm sure it's good." I had one slice and something just tasted so off that I threw the rest away. Again, I thought "nah, it's probably just me." Fast forward to 26 hours later and I am vomiting and having diarrhea from 10pm on Wednesday until 4 am. So on thanksgiving day, I spent nearly 3 hours in urgent care. Fecal samples were taken where they found that I had norovirus. the doctor went through extensive questioning about my diet, whether or not any co-workers or my boyfriend had been sick and if I ate anything out of the ordinary. No one had been sick, my boyfriend whom I live with had not been sick and this slice of pizza was the ONLY thing I ate, but my boyfriend did not eat in the past several days. The doctor came to the conclusion that it was caused by contaminated ingredients in the pizza.
So no thanksgiving dinner for me. Likely not for several days. And no going to visit any family or friends. Park Pizza is closed for Thanksgiving day as most places are, so I will be reporting the incident first thing Friday. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Fever, Vomiting
