I went to Calistoga in July for attempt at vacation and ate at the Restaurant. I had the ‘camarones rancheros’ plate — a lot of shrimp, cooked with a tomatoes and other stuff. It is the sickest I’ve ever been. Ended up in the hospital after vomiting over 30 times. I learned that electrolytes help regulate heartbeat, and after so long without being able to keep down any fluids and a total loss of electrolytes, each time I moved in the slightest, my heart rate would shoot up and my chest would feel like a huge weight was suddenly resting on me. That sensation would immediately be accompanied by alarms that would go off on all the monitors I was hooked up to, and nurses would come running into my room to put me on an ekg to ensure I wasn’t having a heart attack. My uncle who lived and ate raw meats with rural tribal communities in Papua New Guinea for years of his life remarked that it was some of the worst food poisoning he’d ever seen. The food wasn’t even that flavorful. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Other
