Family Illness After Resort Stay - All Inclusive, Punta Cana La Altagracia

Punta Cana, 23000 La Altagracia, Dominican Republic

8/17/23 to 8/21/23 at the Royalton Punta Cana Resort. Majority of my family returned home with diarrhea that began a day or two before departure. No diagnoses yet, but sure feels like food poisoning. Drinking water served with meals? Fish? Flies? Poor sanitation? Poor pool hygiene or poor general hygiene? I first felt the chills and aches after leaving the pool one afternoon. That same day I ate from a burger bar with toppings left out for who knows long without proper chilling. I had a fresh coconut at the poolside. And I ate what became my normal breakfast there of fried eggs and toast (seemed the safest choice in the buffet). That night my family had a fish dinner on the beach and that seemed to be the nail in the coffin because I suffered from watery diarrhea all night. My partner also has an unexplained rash on his stomach. I wish I had definitive answers on how these symptoms came to be, but I just know that I have never ever felt this way before and have no choice but to link it to my 5 day stay at this resort. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Chills, Body Ache
