The Filling Station - Inverness, Academy Street, Inverness, UK

10 Academy Street, IV1 1JT Scotland, United Kingdom

We had a lovely lunch. My husband had a burger, my son the fish and chips. My daughter and I each had different dishes with Halloumi. Within four hours we were very ill. It lasted about 24 hours. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Vomiting

Fish and chips being deep fried at great heat would usually be a pretty safe meal. Sounds like hand hygiene?

Hi, thanks for your comment. The most common fish food poisonings are scombroid and ciguatera. Scombroid is caused by improperly handling of fish producing histamine-releasing bacteria. Symptoms can occur as quickly as 15 mins. Ciguatera is common with tropical and sub-tropical fish and typically causes hot-cold reversal. You can also get food poisoning from french fries. Green potatoes contain solanine a nerve toxin that can result in headaches, vomiting, diarrhea, and even paralysis if consumed in high quantities. French fries food poisoning can also occur from contamination before serving through unsanitary practices. Have a great afternoon!
