Outbreak
Hobbledown has been shut since July 27 while investigations take place after 3 children
According to the regional deputy director for UKHSA South East, they are investigating potential sources of these infections, and measures are being put in place to help prevent further cases. STEC can cause illnesses ranging from mild to bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain. In a small number of people, it can lead to more serious outcomes.
The UKHSA recommends you stay off work or school for 48 hours after vomiting or diarrhea has subsided. However, those working with children, preparing food, or healthcare workers should be screened for STEC before returning to work.
In case you are experiencing E. coli symptoms, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
