My 2 year old had spahghetti-o's from chef Boyardee when she was a year old, for dinner. The next morning when i went to get her out of her crib she threw up. But it was already digested from the stomach since it was only mucous and... See More saliva that came up. Fast forward to two days ago, she is now 2 years (28 months) old. She had some canned ravioli for dinner made by chef boyardee. She then went to bed a couple hours later but about 30 minutes after, she started screaming terribly. So we got her out of bed and had her lay on the couch. She laid on her dad for about an hour before we tried putting her back to bed since we had no idea what was wrong and she had no fever. She wound up screaming like that again and you know the differences between your own kids cries from being upset or physically hurt and it wasn't any of those types of cries. I never heard her do this before so i took her back out and laid her on the couch with us for 2 hours. During that time she made some odd noises that sounded like burps but not normal burps. It worried me because they sounded like they could be the type that one would make before throwing up. She did that a couple times but nothing came of it. After two hours we put her to bed and she went to sleep without another screaming issue. Now to yesterday afternoon... We gave her the left over ravioli because i pulled a few things out of the fridge for her to choose for dinner and she wanted it. So i gave it to her. She went to bed fine last night but this morning when i got her, she threw up clear with mucous. So the ravioli was out of her stomach by now but not out of her intestines yet. I cleaned get up and took her temp. Her temp is normal so i just laid her on her little fold out couch and put a movie on for her while i went to get her some breakfast. While i was doing that she threw up again so i just gave her water instead of food for the moment. My husband came home shortly after for his lunch and he reminded me of how she was the other day and that it was after eating ravioli and what happened a year ago after eating the spaghetti-o's. I highly feel she is allergic to something in their products even though it doesn't physically effect her until it leaves her stomach. She has never been ill in these ways before and it just so happens to happen each time after eating their canned crap. Obviously i won't be giving her that garbage anymore. I shouldn't have fed her such crap in the first place and i feel guilty for it. She hasn't had a fever with any of these events either. In fact, her temp from today was 98.2. Hers ranges between 97.8 and 98.4 when she is inactive from laying around so that's a normal temp for her. | Symptoms: Nausea, Vomiting, Fever, Burping See Less

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), in collaboration with regional health authorities, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency are investigating a Salmonella outbreak linked to Malichita brand cantaloupes. To date, there have been 8 confirmed cases of a rare strain... See More of Salmonella in British Columbia since mid-November. These cases are primarily located within the Vancouver Coastal Health, Fraser Health, and Island Health regions.
The investigation revealed a correlation between the cases and recalled cantaloupes in Canada and the United States. Initially detected by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency on November 1, the recall was updated on November 14 to include British Columbia. Consumers who acquired these cantaloupes between October 11 and November 14, 2023, are warned to discard them. The culprit bacterium, Salmonella soahanina or Salmonella sundsvall, was discovered in the recalled cantaloupes through genetic sequencing.
To prevent further spread, the BCCDC advised to dispose of any Malichita cantaloupes or cantaloupes with no identifiable origin. Contaminated foods may not show noticeable spoilage but can still cause illness. Therefore, proper hygiene practices, like washing hands and cooking surfaces, are crucial. Individuals feeling unwell, particularly those with diarrhea or vomiting symptoms, are asked to avoid preparing food.
