October 13th, 2025:
Fifty-two individuals have reported feeling unwell with suspected food poisoning after dining at the Cwrt Henllys Hotel in Cwmbran, Torfaen. The outbreak, which may also be linked to a virus, is under investigation by an environmental health team and Public Health Wales. No hospitalizations have been reported.
The illnesses were reported following a carvery event at the hotel on October 5. While the cause is suspected to be food poisoning, ongoing tests are being conducted to determine if the illness was food-related or due to another factor, such as an airborne virus.
The issue was discovered when guests began reporting symptoms the day after the event. The hotel has since addressed a specific issue related to the cooling of food, in compliance with environmental health regulations. Public Health Wales has stated that there is no broader public health risk, and the hotel has not been advised to close its kitchen.
