3 years ago •source facebook.com
Outbreak
Idaho, United States
Eastern Idaho Public Health is seeing an increase of cases of Campylobacter illness in the region which is likely associated with drinking unpasteurized (raw) milk. Eastern Idaho is comprised of Bonneville, Clark, Custer, Fremont, Jefferson, Lemhi, Madison, and Teton counties. To avoid illness from Campylobacter, public health advises:
- Drink pasteurized milk and treated water.
- Wash your hands thoroughly particularly before preparing or eating food, after using the toilet, after changing diapers, and after touching pets or other animals.
- Keep raw poultry away from other foods.
- Cook food to the correct temperature.
In case you experience Campylobacter symptoms such as diarrhea (often bloody), fever, nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps, report it now. This helps to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance.
