Listeria Outbreak linked to Yu Shang Ready-to-Eat Meat and Poultry Products

As of December 5, 2024, 19 people from eight states have been infected with the outbreak strains of Listeria. Of 19 people with information available, 17 (89%) have been hospitalized. Seven illnesses are related to pregnancy. In California, a mother and her twins were sick and both infants died. In Tennessee, a mother and her infant were sick and her infant died.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and public health officials are investigating a multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections. The outbreak is linked to ready-to-eat meat and poultry products from Yu Shang Food, affecting 11 people across four states (CA, IL, NY and NJ). The outbreak has resulted in nine hospitalizations and one infant death.

A pregnant woman from California tragically lost her infant twins. While Listeria was detected in one of the twins, it was not found in the other. As a result, the CDC included the mother and only the affected twin in the case count.

The products in question bear the establishment number "P46684" or "EST. M46684" on the label, and include all items produced prior to October 28, 2024. A recall has been issued for these products and you can see the full list of products and the labels down below.
