Ground Beef Products recalled due to E. Coli

Wolverine Packing Co., is recalling ground beef products due to potential E. coli O157:H7 contamination, as announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The products were distributed to restaurants nationwide in United States. The issue was discovered when FSIS was alerted by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture about a group of individuals who fell ill after consuming the ground beef. The FSIS, in collaboration with the Minnesota Departments of Agriculture and Health, established a link between the ground beef products from Wolverine Packing Co. and the reported illnesses. As of now, 15 cases have been identified in one state with illness onset dates ranging from November 2, 2024, to November 10, 2024.The recalled products include:
- Fresh ground beef with a "use by" date of 11/14/2024
- Frozen ground beef labeled with a production date of 10/22/24.
The products bear the establishment number "EST. 2574B" inside the USDA mark of inspection and approximately 167,277 pounds of is recalled. The products may be in restaurant refrigerators or freezers.
