Food Safety Report: Local Roots Bakery 'Assorted Baked Goods' recalled due to undeclared allergens

3 weeks ago source agriculture.ny.gov

Recall notice

North Salem, 10560 New York, United States

New York State Agriculture Commissioner, alerted consumers of the presence of undeclared wheat allergens in cinnamon buns, mini cinnamon buns, alfajores duos, brownies, and muffins, which were manufactured by Local Roots Bakery. The product was distributed in the Hudson Valley and Long Island regions of New York.

The bakery's products were sold in assorted sized plastic packaging. The alert is particularly relevant for individuals with severe wheat allergies, people who have severe sensitivity to wheat may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.

The misbranding was identified during a consumer complaint investigation and subsequent product sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors. Analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the product contained wheat allergens, which were not declared on the label. Consumers who may have purchased these products should not consume them

In case you experience harm from allergens or undeclared ingredients, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve issues and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
