On June 15, 2023, the Fromagerie Ottavi withdrew from sale and recalled its ripened soft and pressed cheese products following evidence of Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The company detected the presence of this bacterium in their maturing area. The bacterial strain found is similar to that identified in several patients with listeriosis symptoms, however, no link has yet been established with certainty between these human cases and the consumption of their cheeses. These products were distributed in France. The company initiated the recall as a precautionary measure and in constant liaison with the health authorities (notably the Direction Générale de la Santé, the Direction Générale de l'Alimentation, Santé Publique France and the Agence Régionale de Santé de Corse) they are recalling all of their ripened products.
