Unwashed Lettuce Leads Illness - B&D Burgers - Downtown Broughton Street, Savannah Georgia

B&D Burgers - Downtown Broughton Street, East Broughton Street, Savannah, GA, United States

13 East Broughton Street, Savannah, 31401 Georgia, United States

My husband and a couple of friends spent the weekend in Savannah for St. Patty's. We got to East Bay st. around 4:30 and spent a few hours enjoying the celebration. After our hunger set in we decided to find a restaurant that had a reasonable wait time. We arrived at the restaurant somewhere around 8pm on Sat the 18th. We were seated and considering the overwhelming amount of costumers the service from the staff was fine. Unfortunately, the quality of the food being served was less than satisfactory. We ordered appetizers, gator fritters and mozzarella sticks which came out and they had a rubbery/greasy taste as though they'd been sitting out. We were then served our entrée's. My husband ordered a burger, my girlfriend ordered the Blake's Savannah Dip, her boyfriend ordered Spud Mountain with no chives, and I ordered a B&D salad. As I started eating my salad I noticed the lettuce had dirt in it as though it wasn't washed. I took a couple of bites of my burger, but the thought of eating dirty lettuce compelled me to complain again. I showed the waitresses the lettuce with dirt and I asked her if they washed it before serving it, of course she reassured me they did. The manager on duty brought me another salad, but the thought of unsanitary food would not allow me to eat it. They then brought out the rest of the food and it was incorrect. The fries had chives, so again we were forced to complain! I was still hungry so I took a couple bites of the Blake's Savannah Dip and a few bites of the fries. We finished up, left the restaurant, and headed back to our hotel. The next morning my girlfriend was very ill. She started vomiting and had diarrhea. It continued throughout the day. Around 3pm on Sunday I started to get sick with the same symptoms. She ended up in the ER Sunday night. They took 8 vials of blood. She was given morphine for the pain, an IV of fluids and nausea meds. However, considering the only thing we shared was that roast beef sandwich they came to the conclusion it was most likely food poisoning. I had unbearable pain and spent the rest of my day and most of the night vomiting. The Dr. recommend she not return to work until Wednesday. I myself did not go to the ER, but I was and I'm still having stomach pain, nausea and unable to go to work today. We both feel very weak as though we were hit in the stomach with a baseball bat! The pain we both felt was something I truly never experienced before fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea, weakness, chills and sweating. I'd like to say this is my very first time making a complaint such as this. I did take the time to review other consumer complaints and apparently this is not the first time this has happened. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Fever, Vomiting, Other, Weakness, Chills, Sweating, Stomach Pain
