50200 Chiang Mai, Thailand
On August 11th, 2024 prior to 10:53AM (ICT) I ordered, purchased, and ate a "mushroom and swiss" cheeseburger from Burger King at the CNX international airport after going through the security and immigration checkpoints at approximately 10:00AM (ICT). The burger was hot on the outside but only luke-warm on the inside and the beef tasted strange so I only ate 4-5 bites of the burger itself. The burger was ultimately disposed of on EVA flight BR0258 after takeoff. I have reason to believe that the burger was NOT made to order because the "swiss" did not have the taste or appearance of swiss cheese (the consistency of the cheese was more liquid than solid). The bread was also stale on the exterior but moist and soggy in the interior. I did not consume breakfast prior to eating the burger. On August 14th, 2024 I started to feel sick and went to urgent care for preliminary testing and on August 15th, 2024 I was admitted to the hospital emergency room with severe food poisoning. My stool tested positive for campylobacter infection. I exhibited bloody diarrhea among other symptoms of campylobacteriosis. As of August 24st, 2024 I am still recovering and I am exhibiting symptoms of Guillian-Barre syndrome. My spouse also ate exactly one bite of the same burger from Burger King but didn't like how it tasted. Approximately 5 hours later they became violently ill with vomiting. Two people suffered food poisoning after eating portions of a single Burger King mushroom and swiss cheese burger from the CNX international airport at Chiang Mai, Thailand. Two other individuals of the same traveling party who did not consume any food from Burger king at CNX did not exhibit any food poisoning symptoms. The burger cost 250.00 THB. I paid for the burger using a single 1000.00 THB bill. I was given 750.00 THB as change. A photograph of the change received from the Burger King cashier at CNX airport and associated serial numbers is included in this report. #burgerking #campylobacter #foodpoisoning #CNX #thailand #chiangmai.
