Solo Illness Post-JFC Meal - Hungry Jack's, Cranbourne North Victoria

3 days ago reported by user-vqpn4155 business

Hungry Jack's Burgers Cranbourne North, South Gippsland Highway, Cranbourne North VIC, Australia

398 South Gippsland Highway, Cranbourne North, 3977 Victoria, Australia

My son got sick after eating at that store I report it to hungry jacks and that's their reply
Your ordered 2 spicy Jack's Fried Chicken (JFC) value meals, 2 classic JFC's value meals totalling $72.80
The food and all ingredients used was all within best before dates
We checked our external suppliers and internal processes including cooking processes and all of them were adhered to
We investigated our Cranbourne North cook out logs and they were all in line with our expected ranges
We sold 3,261 spicy JFC burgers and 4,565 classic JFC burgers at Cranbourne North restaurant from 15 October 2025 to 15 January 2026 (including your purchase) and we received no other food poisoning, illness or undercooked reports apart from your son's
We received no contact from the council regarding a possible food issue at Cranbourne North
We reviewed our incident notifications of reported food based sickness/illness at Cranbourne North and no chicken based sickness/food poisoning incidents were reported to us in the past 15 months apart from your son's
We reviewed CCTV of the fryer and burger preparation process but it was inconclusive.
You mentioned your son was sick 1 to 2 hours after eating the spicy JFC burger and believed it was undercooked. Our JFC's are deep fried in batches of 6 so if one JFC is undercooked then 5 other JFC's will also be undercooked however per above we have had no other reports of undercooked JFC at Cranbourne North.
Hungry Jack's attempted to determine what food product of ours or ingredient may have caused your son's illness but have surmised that none of our food or ingredients within our food caused the illness. The reason for this finding, is that it is not possible for one customer (your son) to be sick from our food and no others. In addition, you mentioned your son started to feel sick around 1-2 hours after eating Hungry Jack's food – the incubation period for major bugs like Salmonella is 6-72 hours, E.Coli is 1-10 days, Campylobacter is 2 to 7 days. In the absence of a stool test, Hungry Jack's can only be guided by the above guidelines. It's not uncommon for people to think the last thing they ate made them sick because if they vomit that food up and/or have diarrhoea, they believe it's the cause but in fact it is just what was last in your stomach when the symptoms started.
We do sincerely thank you for reporting this incident to us as it allows us to ensure we continue to maintain our strong customer service and food/drink safety standards.
Thank You
