At around 2 pm Saturday, Jan. 6, I stopped at this Subway on the way home from orchestra to grab a salami sandwich on whole wheat flatbread with pepperjack cheese, cucumbers, onion, green peppers, banana peppers, jalapenos, and lettuce. It was good, and I went on with the rest of my day. After coming back home from MOA later that evening, I began vomiting and continued to do so at 5 to 10 minute intervals for about an hour and a half until I started vomiting blood at shorter intervals and had bloody diarrhea at about the same intervals. I was freezing cold and shaking--no fever--and had extreme lightheadedness and dizziness in my arms and legs. When paramedics arrived my blood pressure was very low and I was tachycardic. They gave me the maximum dosage of anti-nausea medication, and when I reached the hospital I began vomiting and had diarrhea with blood in both, again. After continuing to receive fluids, my BP became more normal and they ordered a CT scan of my abdomen which showed inflammation in parts of my intestines and bowels, the origin of the bleeding. Doctor discharged me at 5.30 am after prescribing anti-nausea medication and anti-biotics. Next day I've continued to have bloody diarrhea and have had only a few pieces of banana to eat and about half a Gatorade to drink throughout the entire day.
Judging from the other reports I've seen, the lettuce is the most likely culprit. This needs to be taken care of. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Bloody Stool, Dizziness, Lightheaded, Shaking, Fever
