Shrimp Grits Illness Suspected - Union Jack Pub & Restaurant, Winchester Virginia

3 years ago reported by user-ppfkx233 business

Union Jack Pub & Restaurant, North Loudoun Street, Winchester, VA, USA

101 North Loudoun Street, Winchester, 22601 Virginia, United States

My boyfriend and I go to here all the time, typically ordering a burger or an appetizer. On Friday, April 1, 2022, we came here at about 7:30-8:00pm, and I decided to order something new (not to the menu but to me) which was their shrimp and grits with andoui sausage; my boyfriend ordered the chicken Caesar salad wrap (which he has had before). I got about halfway through my dish, and my boyfriend had a few bites as well. We were there for about 2 hours and as we were leaving the restaurant, my boyfriend said he started feeling off, but figured was just full. By 11pm his stomach was cramping and by midnight he was vomiting with diarrhea. By 2am I also woke up and had severe vomiting and diarrhea. We were both violently ill all of the following day, experiencing intense body chills, sweating/fever, severe stomach cramps, and the aforementioned vomiting and diarrhea. We had become so dehydrated I had started to get dizzy, and my boyfriend dealt with headaches, but neither of us could even keep water down for a near 13 hours. On Sunday, April 3rd we were able to return to work but still dealt with mild diarrhea and on and off stomach cramps. My belief is that one of the proteins in my meal were bad, left out and then overcooked, or the kitchens hygiene tactics need to be reviewed. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Fever, Cramps, Headache, Chills, Sweating, Dehydration, Dizziness

Sounds like norovirus. Please don't go to work if you are having diarrhea. This is how illnesses spread.

Some people don't have a choice...companies are not understanding about it and Some people can't afford to miss work.
