Undercooked Chicken Illness - Zuzul | Coastal Cuisine, Shreveport Louisiana

18 hours ago reported by user-dtjgg256 business

Zuzul | Coastal Cuisine, East 70th Street, Shreveport, LA, USA

1370 East 70th Street, Shreveport, 71105 Louisiana, United States

My husband and I dined at Zuzul for our 32nd Anniversary. I unfortunately ordered the fried chicken which was sitting in a very thin puddle of potato puree and drizzled with lots of oily sauce which was pooling around two greasy fried chicken breasts. I could barely eat my meal because it was so incredibly oily and then when I cut into it, it seemed a bit undercooked. That’s what worried me more than the oil, but I tried to eat what I could which wasn’t much. The manager came to our table and asked if everything was ok and I mentioned to him that I could not finish my meal as the chicken seemed a bit undercooked. He didn’t really apologize, but said the chicken was pre cooked in a water bath and then fried (!?) and maybe I should’ve ordered something else and would I like a meal to take home with me. He did not offer to bring me another, better dinner to eat there or to take the poorly cooked uneaten meal off of our ticket. We told him we couldn’t take a meal home as we were going to depart straight from the restaurant on our anniversary trip to another city. I had to sit there and watch my husband eat every bit of his wonderful steak meal while telling me how delicious it was. The fried chicken and potato puree was almost $30 and with my husband’s steak our bill was $160. Sure enough when we were at our destination I became extremely ill with nausea and shivering and constant trips to the toilet with watery diarrhea. We had to cut our special trip short so he could bring me home. I feel like Zuzul ruined my anniversary. I noticed it seems to be the kind of place that people go to mostly drink and socialize and once they drink they don’t really care about the quality of what they’re eating. I told my husband I will never go back and I will warn others about it. It’s a shame because we have been good customers in the past and enjoyed the dinners we had there until now. Our waitress was very sweet but the manager needs to work harder at making sure the fried chicken is cooked properly and also on his customer service skills. Yuck. If you live near here think twice about that place. I’m still not well three days later.
