The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets has issued a warning to consumers about a potential Campylobacter jejuni contamination in raw milk from HuHill Farm in Montgomery County. The producer was notified of a preliminary positive test result on October 17, 2024. Further laboratory testing, completed on October 21, 2024, confirmed the presence of Campylobacter jejuni in the raw milk sample. As a result, HuHill Farm is now prohibited from selling raw milk until subsequent testing indicates the product is free of this harmful bacteria.
The Department recommends consumers who have purchased raw milk from HuHill Farm not to use it.
In case you experience Campylobacter symptoms such as diarrhea (often bloody), fever, nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps, report it now. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
