E. coli Outbreak at McClard's Bar-B-Q Sickens Multiple People

4 months ago source hotsr.com business

505 Albert Pike Road, Hot Springs, 71913 Arkansas, United States

McClard's Bar-B-Q Restaurant in Hot Springs, Arkansas, has temporarily closed following an E. coli outbreak that sickened at least two dozen people over Labor Day weekend. The closure, from Sunday through Tuesday, is for cleaning and staff retraining after customers reported illnesses linked to the restaurant.

The Arkansas Department of Health received multiple complaints from patrons who dined at McClard's between August 26 and September 1. Reports indicated that groups ordering takeout experienced symptoms of severe food poisoning within 24 hours of consumption. The restaurant voluntarily closed to address the issue, emphasizing its commitment to customer safety.

The outbreak was discovered after several customers filed complaints with the Health Department, citing symptoms consistent with E. coli infection. An inspection on September 2 revealed violations, including improper food storage and temperature control, which may have contributed to the outbreak. The Health Department is working with McClard's to rectify these issues and prevent future occurrences.
