Red Cow, a popular restaurant chain in Minnesota, has been linked to an E. coli O157 outbreak, resulting in 10 reported cases of infection. The affected individuals had consumed burgers at various Red Cow locations across Hennepin, Ramsey, and Olmsted counties. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has traced the outbreak back to a common ground beef product used by Red Cow and another restaurant, Hen House Eatery. The infected individuals reported dining between October 31 and November 7, with symptoms appearing from November 4 to November 9. The age of those affected ranges from 9 to 70 years, with two cases requiring hospitalization. Additional potential cases are currently under investigation. The owners of Red Cow and Hen House Eatery are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation, and have implemented changes to their product sourcing to prevent further illnesses.Around 100 cases of E. coli O157 infection are reported in Minnesota each year. The MDH continues to monitor the situation and urges anyone who believes they may have developed an E. coli O157 infection to contact their healthcare provider.
