Gastrointestinal Outbreak linked to Birrieria Tijuana and Carnita's Mr. Porky Taqueria

1 day ago source kingcounty.gov

12803 Ambaum Boulevard Southwest, Burien, 98146 Washington, United States

Public Health has completed an investigation into a gastrointestinal illness outbreak linked to Birrieria Tijuana and Carnita's Mr. Porky Taqueria in Burien, Washington. The outbreak affected three individuals from different households, with no hospitalizations or deaths reported. The illnesses were associated with meals consumed on January 8, 2026.

The affected individuals experienced symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, chills, and fever, with onset occurring between January 9 and January 10, 2026. Public Health officials did not identify a specific food or drink item as the source of the outbreak, and no restaurant workers were reported to be ill.

The outbreak was discovered following reports from the affected individuals. Public Health conducted an inspection on January 27, 2026, uncovering several food safety violations, including improper handwashing, inaccessible handwashing sinks, and inadequate sanitation of dishes and food preparation areas. These issues led to the temporary closure of the restaurant and its associated food trucks. After corrective actions were taken, the restaurant was reinspected and allowed to reopen on January 29, 2026. No laboratory testing was conducted during the investigation.
