Update June 26th, 2026:Danish health authorities have linked the Salmonella Stanley outbreak to Reeva flavored instant noodles manufactured in Ukraine. The outbreak has now increased to 10 confirmed cases in Denmark, up from eight previously reported, affecting people aged 5 to 22 years across multiple regions. Investigators found the outbreak strain in Reeva chicken-flavored instant noodles tested in Germany and Reeva spicy chicken-flavored instant noodles tested in Lithuania.
Purchase information and patient interviews also linked several Danish cases to these products.
Authorities advise not to consume flavored instant noodles directly from the package, as they are not ready-to-eat. The investigation remains ongoing, and related cases have also been identified in several other European countries.

April 27th, 2026:
A Salmonella outbreak has been reported in Denmark, affecting eight young individuals. The cases involve Salmonella Stanley, with patients ranging from 5 to 22 years old. The outbreak has been noted in regions including Sjælland, Midtjylland, Nordjylland, and Syddanmark in Denmark.
Since January 2026, the Statens Serum Institut (SSI) has documented these cases and is collaborating with the Danish Veterinary, Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Agency, and the National Food Institute to investigate the outbreak. The affected individuals include seven males and one female, with a median age of 11.5. Whole genome sequencing indicates that the bacteria are closely related, suggesting a common source of infection.
The outbreak was identified through the analysis of isolates from patients and interviews conducted by SSI. These efforts aim to trace the source of the infection. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, which merged with the Danish Agricultural and Fisheries Agency in January 2026, is also involved in the investigation.
