Vomiting, Nausea, Bloating, Burping

Ate chipotle around 6:30 this evening. Stomach felt unsettled a few hours later. Laid down and fell asleep. Woke up at 2:30am this morning with my stomach churning, feeling bloated and burping a lot. Proceeded to throw up whole chunks of chicken and toma, I’m the only... See More one who ordered chicken and so far the only to get sick. My brother had tomatoes too, but I’m not going to wake him up at this time. It was about 5 hours after I ate that I noticed my stomach rumbling and I threw up 8-8.5 hours after eating | Symptoms: Vomiting, Nausea, Bloating, Burping See Less

On Friday 12/1/23 at 11:13 am I went to Chipotle for the first time ever with my husband on our Day Date. We wanted to go someplace where we have never gone before to eat lunch. Upon sitting down and beginning to eat, we realized the food... See More was not even heated nor was the cheese dip and the chips were so salty that we were unable to eat them. I ate about a 1/4 of my burrito and my husband ate about 1/3 of his burrito bowl. We left most of the food. It didn’t taste good. By the end of the evening we were sick as dogs! Food poisoning! Why? We went around 8:17 p.m. on 12/1/23 we ordered chicken bowl white rice w/ side of corn & tomato salsa, chips & queso cheese & 2 soft tortilla. See More in 10-15 mins after my son & I ate the food we got immediate stomach cramps followed by diarrhea, I myself was nauseous for the rest of night, diarrhea subsided after a couple of hours for me, my son had more the stomach cramps & diarrhea. We eat at Chipotle all the time & never got sick. We are going to continue to eat there. I will say this the prep counter was gross the foods were cross contaminating by the way they were preparing it. When one of the employees was preparing food for customer in front of us he accidentally got extra food on the outside container of the guac dish it fell onto counter he then pushed it back into there serving bowl of guacamole, then another employee got sour cream into another side. That's why we only chose the corn & salsa. I realize it gets busy but way too much food cross contamination. We will continue to go there The staff was very friendly and they were working very hard. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Cramps See Less

Bought a box of Lucky Charms a couple weeks ago. I haven't ever had a problem with them before. When I would eat them, at first there was just a lot of bloating and gas. I figured it was because my body wasn't used to eating sugary... See More cereals anymore. Then this week, anytime I had a bowl, I ended up getting episodes of diarrhea and intestinal cramps that increased in severity. It's the only thing I've been eating that the rest of my family hasn't been. The fact that the symptoms are isolated to days when I've eaten the cereal and they have been increasing in severity the more time that passes from when I bought the cereal makes me suspect some contaminating agent is reproducing and growing in there. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Cramps, Bloating, Gas See Less

SOFIA PRODUCE, LLC which does business under the name “Trufresh” (“Trufresh”) has expanded its recall of all sizes of fresh cantaloupes packaged in cardboard containers labeled with the “Malichita” label, and also labeled with the “Rudy” label to include all cantaloupes sold between the dates of October... See More 10, 2023 and November 3, 2023, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The cantaloupes were distributed directly to the following States in the United States: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas, Florida and Canada. Trufresh has been advised that there are 97 illnesses reported to date that have been associated with this strain of Salmonella.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The cantaloupes would have reached consumers through retail produce markets which may be located in states other than those listed above.

The Malichita brand cantaloupes are packaged in cardboard containers bearing the “Malichita” label (picture attached). The Malichita brand cantaloupes also have an individual PLU sticker placed upon each cantaloupe in the form of the attached picture. As shown in the picture, the PLU sticker has a top half which is white which has the word “Malichita” written in script in black letters. The bottom of the PLU sticker is black and has the number “4050” prominently displayed in white letters together with the words “Product of Mexico/produit du Mexique”. This label will identify individual Malichita cantaloupes purchased by consumers.

The Rudy brand cantaloupes are packaged in cardboard containers bearing the “Rudy” label (picture attached). The Rudy brand cantaloupes also have an individual PLU sticker placed upon each cantaloupe in the form of the attached picture. As shown in the picture, the PLU sticker 4050 This label will identify individual Rudy cantaloupes purchased by consumers.

Trufresh began this recall after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) determined that Malichita cantaloupes have possible Salmonella contamination. The CFIA’s original recall was for possible Salmonella contamination of cantaloupes packaged with the same Malichita label and the same PLU sold to Fruits et Légumes Gaétan Bono. Trufresh is expanding the recall to encompass all cantaloupes under the Malichita brand and also the Rudy brand as a precautionary step.

Consumers should check if they have recalled products; and do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products.

Recalled products should be returned to the location where they were purchased.

Consumers who are unsure if they have purchased the recalled product are advised to contact their retailer. If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, contact your healthcare provider.

In case you are experiencing Salmonella symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
