“Yesterday 11/16 I got a bowl with chicken, brown rice, sour cream, cheese and lettuce. I could barely eat 1/4 of it because it tasted off and was really nasty. Not even an hour later I started having sever abdominal cramps and nausea, which later led to vomiting and bloody diarrhea. I have never bee... n so sick in my life, and I feel that they is to blame because prior to eating it I had only two pieces of buttered toast for breakfast. I will never eat here again and I don’t think any one should. ”

“My friend and I ate the burrito bowl with black beans, pinto beans, white rice and guacamole. We both got nausea and stomach pain within the next few hours. I got chills and my body temperature raised a bit, and the abdominal pain got worse for me over the next few hours. I didn't vomit but I felt t... he extreme urge to vomit and also experienced diarrhea. I know for a fact that this has happened 2 other times after having eaten at this restaurant. The pain was sharp in my abdomen and not anything like I have experienced before. ”

“Straight up rancid steak, completely undercooked and raw, but super hard and rubbery. I’ve never had such a bad experience with them which is normally always perfect. I’ve been sick for the last 48hrs and it started almost immediately after taking my last bite, which by the middle of the burrito, I... realized the overly weird taste that was fowl and spoiled tasting, like rotting milk, so I removed all of the meat that was clearly still almost completely raw. I’ve tried to call the location to let the manager know if they weren’t aware so no one else has to go through this, but after 25 times calling, I can’t get one answer to the store. You can’t be in the business of making money off people you’re getting sick. This is terrible and a complete disappointment. ”

E. coli O157:H7 causes a diarrheal illness often with bloody stools. Although most healthy adults can recover completely within a week, some people can develop a form of kidney failure called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS). HUS is most likely to occur in young children and the elderly. The condition can lead to serious kidney damage and even death. If consumers are experiencing any of the above symptoms, please contact your physician.
At Tanimura & Antle, food safety is a number one priority and the company prides itself on its preventative measures. It is unlikely that this product remains at retail establishments due to the shelf life of lettuce and the number of days that have passed. We are asking that if any of the packaged single head romaine described above is in the possession of consumers, retailers or distributors, the product be disposed of and not consumed. Consumers with questions or concerns may call the Tanimura & Antle Consumer Hotline at 877-827-7388 Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
