Suspected Salmonella from Burger

I had a double cheese butter burger had a very strong smell and taste I should have used my gut feeling and tossed it I Thanks there are food safety practices should be looked into as a former cook I know how important it is to keep them hands washed feels like I had salmonella or giardia
