The Suffolk Department of Health Services is investigating a foodborne outbreak linked to Kumo Japanese located at 2548 Nesconset Hwy, Stony Brook, NY. The Health Department has linked the outbreak to mishandling and improper storage of cooked rice at this restaurant. This prompted health officials to investigate Bacillus cereus contamination, as improperly stored cooked rice can foster this bacteria. Kumo Japanese Steakhouse is under investigation in connection with the outbreak, but they are cooperating with health officials. The investigation is ongoing.

These items were sold frozen and vacuum-sealed in clear plastic bags.
