An outbreak of Cryptosporidium has been linked to Hazelgrove Farm in Ryde, UK, resulting in approximately 50 cases of illness. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Isle of Wight Council are currently investigating the incident. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is also involved.

See More to Dr. Anand Fernandes, health protection consultant for UKHSA South East, the farm took quick action to voluntarily stop the animal petting activity on May 1st, and they do not believe there is an ongoing risk to the public. The symptoms of Cryptosporidium can last for over two weeks in some people, but the agency does not expect to see new cases directly attributed to the farm beyond the 10th of May.
The cause of the outbreak has yet to be determined, but it is believed to have originated from the farm's animal petting activity. The UKHSA, Isle of Wight Council, and HSE are all working together to identify the source and take appropriate steps to prevent further infection.

Symptoms started after about half an hour of eating and he had a fever and was constantly sick he couldnt even have a sip of water without it.making him sick. We had tickets to go to eurodisney which we did go to as he still wanted to go. You could see he didn't enjoy it he was quite and very pale. When we got home on the 4th day of this happening he was still being sick and the diarrhoea had started. We were home by this point so we took him to the docs who were uming and aring whether to send him to hospital because of his dehydration the doc gave him 1more night at home to see whether he could keep any liquid down if not he was going to be admitted. We were also given a vile to collect some of his poop for testing which we did and thankfully after 1more night at home he was finallt able to keep down small amounts of liquid and at this point he had now gone 4 days without drink and food it was after a week that he was finally able to eat again and then it was only small amounts it took a month for him to be back to normal and even now he still gets very bad stomach cramps and aches. The results had come back and he had cryptosporidium which the doc said would of come from the chicken from burger King and I forgot to add that it was pushing half 10 at night when we went to burger King as we were all having a lot of fun in cannes. This recall is due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled products are beyond their “Best If... See More Used By Date”. These products were distributed through retailers and distributors in the states of Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. No related illnesses have been reported to date.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Consumers with these symptoms should immediately consult their healthcare provider.

Lancaster Foods is recalled a limited quantity of 3 brands of already-expired Robinson Fresh, Lancaster, and Giant brand Kale, Spinach, and Collard Green products produced at the company’s Jessup, Maryland facility. The recall was initiated after notification that a random sample of a single bag of Chopped Kale Greens product with a “BEST IF USED BY May 1, 2023” date collected by the New York Agriculture and Markets Food Safety Division tested positive for the Listeria pathogen.
Products can be identified by using the UPC or Item Number codes and the Best if Used by Dates outlined in the table below. Retailers and distributors have been instructed to ensure the recalled products are removed from all inventories. Consumers who might still have the recalled products in their refrigerators should discard the items and they should not be consumed. No other products distributed by Lancaster Foods have been recalled.
