Raw Mushrooms Cause Illness - Grill it up, Toronto Ontario

2 years ago reported by user-rnxm2616

Grill it up, 1800 Sheppard Ave E, North York, ON M2J 5A7, Canada

1800 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto, M2J 5A7 Ontario, Canada

Suspected food poisoning. Symptoms: Diarrhea, Stomach Pain, Cramps
Suspected source: Mushrooms
Onset: Less than 4 hours
Duration: Several days
Sick: Me
Additional information: I had steam vegetables that included zucchini, carrots and mushrooms. I realized the texture of the mushrooms was more firm than I'm used to and they were pretty flavorless. I cut one in half after eating about five small ones, and realized they were still raw inside. I walked around the mall after and I was feeling okay. On my way home, however my stomach was rumbling and really started to hurt. I had diarrhea and horrible cramping and bloating. I'm still not over the bloating and cramping. It has been four days | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Stomach Pain, Cramps, Bloating

Mushrooms can be eaten raw. They do NOT have to be cooked. It was likely the zucchini, which contains cucurbitacins, which has been linked to nausea, vomiting, bloating, diarrhea, hair loss and even death in humans. You might consider seeing a doctor because you may have picked up a parasite from eating those possibly unwashed veggies, which is treatable by antiparasitic medication.
