Saturday, Feb. 11, approx. 5:30 pm, my wife and my 6-year-old daughter shared a rotisserie chicken sandwich with spinach, tomatoes, American cheese, olives, and ranch dressing. My wife began feeling feeling ill later that evening, and developed a fever and began vomiting around 1:00 am. The vomiting continued until she took some dimenhydrinate around 6:00 am. She was bedridden all day the next day (Feb. 12) with nausea and a severe headache, and operated at limited capacity the day after (2/13). Today, 2/14, she has had repeated bouts of diarrhea and continues to suffer from a headache and nausea. She has not yet been to a doctor. My daughter, who at less of the sandwich and generally picks out the cheese and vegetables, did not begin feeling ill until the morning after eating at Subway (2/12). She reported feeling slightly nauseous all that day, then had a single episode of vomiting at around 6:00 pm that evening, followed by diarrhea at around 6:30 pm. I took her to the ER; they declined to test for pathogens, and merely prescribed her an antiemetic (ondansetron). She has not reported any other symptoms since the evening of the 12th. I have advised her to take a fecal sample and bring it to the doctor for analysis/diagnosis as soon as she is well enough to undergo transport.
My 2-year-old son, who did not eat any of the Sandwich but was in close proximity to vomiting episodes, developed a persistent low-grade fever the night of 2/12 and complained of gastrointestinal pain, but did not experience vomiting or diarrhea. His fever broke before morning and he has presented with no symptoms since then.
I did not eat any of the sandwich, though I did clean up a lot of the vomit. As of this writing, have not experienced any symptoms. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Fever, Vomiting, Headache
