Superior Grill Quesadilla Illness - Superior Bar & Grill MidCity, Baton Rouge Louisiana

1 week ago reported by user-yncjd624 business

Superior Bar & Grill MidCity, Government Street, Baton Rouge, LA, USA

5435 Government Street, Baton Rouge, 70806 Louisiana, United States

On Saturday, April 11, 2026 a group of us ate at Superior Grill on Government Street. Two of us both ate the same thing, a half order of the chicken quesadillas. I am thinking that they made 1 full size portion, cut it in half and served the same quesadilla to both of us. We both got violently ill and had the same symptoms. My symptoms started Sunday morning with stomach cramps, diarrhea, no appetite and by Sunday night, my stomach pain was so bad, I couldn’t sleep and almost went to the ER. Over the course of that day/night, I tried every medicine I could think of and nothing worked at all: Pepto, GasX, Extra Strength Tylenol, Gaviscon, Chamomile Tea, Ginger. I woke up Monday morning, vomiting and still with terrible abdominal pain, thinking I had appendicitis. I went to my primary doctor and although he didn’t think it was appendicitis, he drew blood and sent me for X-Rays to rule out anything other than food poisoning. Even with my insurance, I had to pay $630 out of pocket for the x-rays. After I got home from the x-rays, the other person that ate the chicken quesadilla called me to tell me that she woke up Monday morning with the same stomach pain/cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. When she told me that she vomited multiple times, had no appetite and had the same abdominal pain as me, I knew it had to food poisoning (probably salmonella) from the chicken we both ate. Both my
x-rays and blood work came back normal.

This is the second time that a member of my family got food poisoning from the Government Street location of Superior Grill. About 6 to 9 months ago, my son ate seared Tuna at the same location of Superior Grill. When he got home from the restaurant he immediately got sick with histamine poisoning, which can happen if the tuna is not kept properly refrigerated at the right temperatures. We know it was histamine poisoning because a few hours after taking Benadryl, his symptoms went away. The next day, we called and spoke to the manager to worn him about the tuna and suggested he throw out any more that he has, so that no one else gets sick. He was very rude, telling us that there is no way it was the tuna that got our son sick and said he will not throw away any fish. That was the end of that conversation.

When I talked to my doctor’s nurse on Monday, she told me that she also once got food poisoning from the same location of Superior Grill. This is another reason why I feel I should report this. The Louisiana Department of Health needs to investigate and help Superior change their kitchen and prep procedures to keep this from happening to others. I recently read other stories online of people getting food poisoning from other locations of Superior Grill. So it's possible that the problems come from the company they source their chicken and fish from? Regardless, something needs to change. I have loved going to Superior Grill my whole life and after the pain I went through, unfortunately, I will never go to any location again. It's just too risky! | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain, Cramps, Gas
