Gastrointestinal Illness Outbreak Linked to Mizuki Buffet in Tukwila

4 weeks ago source kingcounty.gov business

17950 Southcenter Parkway, Tukwila, 98188 Washington, United States

Public Health officials have completed an investigation into a gastrointestinal illness outbreak linked to Mizuki Buffet, located at 17950 Southcenter Pkwy, Tukwila, WA. Eight individuals reported symptoms after dining at the restaurant between September 9 and October 19, 2025. No hospitalizations or deaths have been reported.

The affected individuals experienced symptoms including nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, diarrhea, chills, headache, and in some cases, bloody diarrhea. The investigation did not identify a specific food or drink item as the source of the outbreak. Public Health officials conducted an inspection on October 1, 2025, and identified several issues that could have contributed to the outbreak, such as inadequate handwashing supplies and a lack of hot water at handwashing stations.

The outbreak was discovered after multiple reports of illness were submitted to Public Health. An initial inspection revealed violations, and a follow-up inspection on October 29 found repeat issues. By November 6, most of the food safety problems had been addressed. Public Health will continue to monitor Mizuki Buffet to ensure compliance with food safety standards. No laboratory testing was conducted during the investigation.
