Update November 20th, 2025:
The CDC has officially declared the multistate Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak linked to large brown cage-free “sunshine/omega-3 golden” yolk eggs from Country Eggs, LLC to be over.

Since the prior update, the total case count has risen to 105 illnesses across 14 states (AZ, CA, FL, GA, HI, IA, MN, NC, NE, NM, NV, NY, PA, WA), with 19 hospitalizations and no reported deaths. Illness onsets now range from January 7 to August 14, 2025. Among those interviewed, 38 of 42 reported eating eggs or egg-containing dishes.

As part of the federal investigation, the FDA conducted an on-site inspection at Country Eggs, LLC and collected environmental samples. Three samples tested positive for the outbreak strain, confirming contamination at the facility. The FDA is now working with the company on corrective actions, and the investigation has been officially closed.

Country Eggs, LLC, based in Lucerne Valley, CA, is at the center of a Salmonella outbreak linked to their large brown cage-free "sunshine/omega-3 golden" yolk eggs. The outbreak has affected 95 people across 14 states (AZ, CA, FL, GA, HI, IA, MN, NC, NE, NM, NV, NY, PA, WA), with 18 hospitalizations reported. The eggs were distributed in California and Nevada between June 16 and July 9, 2025.

The recalled eggs were sold under the brands Nagatoshi Produce, Misuho, Nijiya Markets, and Country Eggs, with carton codes No. CA-7695 and sell-by dates from July 1 to September 18, 2025.

The FDA and CDC are actively investigating the outbreak, which has not resulted in any deaths.

The problem was identified through epidemiological data collected by the CDC, which linked the illnesses to eggs distributed by Country Eggs, LLC. Traceback investigations revealed that 33 of 36 affected individuals had consumed eggs or egg-containing dishes. In response, Country Eggs, LLC has issued a recall of the affected products. The FDA's investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided
