Sweet Cream Mini Pastries linked to Salmonella outbreak

1 year ago source fda.gov

United States

Sweet Cream, a popular pastry brand, has issued a recall for its mini pastries due to a Salmonella outbreak. The recall affects products with best-by dates from June 17 to November 15, 2025. A total of 18 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella have been reported from California, Illinois, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

The recalled pastries, which are ready-to-eat, were distributed to various food service locations including hotel cafes, bakeries, institutions, and restaurants. They were also served at catered events. The pastries may have been sold individually or in smaller packages, with or without a label that may not bear the same brand, product name, or best-by date. Consumers unsure about their purchases are advised to contact their retailer.

The Salmonella contamination was discovered during routine testing by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Symptoms of Salmonella infection typically occur within 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated food and can last four to seven days. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Children under five, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk for severe infections.

The distributing firms have directly contacted the food service customers who received the recalled product, and it should no longer be available for sale. The product was distributed in Florida, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania but it could have been distributed further, reaching additional states.
