Goodbye! and best wishes in your recovery

    Product: Chex

    Updated: August 13, 2022 3:40 AM
I purchased Chex mix as always from here and I'm not sure what has changed about them, but this bag made my tongue swell up, mouth itch, and it had my throat closing up. I got chex mix from Target, no problem. Got it from here again... See More and sure enough same thing. Something in the formulary must have changed. I suspect they are cutting corners to make it cheaper for them to make and get the same profits. Whatever they did, there is no new declared allergens and whatever they added is downright dangerous for many of us. | Symptoms: Something else, Sore Throat See Less

Saturday evening, Peanut butter Chex cereal with a banana. Nothing else. Not sure. Went to the ER. They didn’t know why I was ill. Started with abdominal pain due to bloating, nausea, belching, vomited, a few hours later several bouts of watery diarrhea that lasted about 3... See More hours. EDIT: This is the second time I’ve had the same symptoms after eating a General Mills product! | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Bloating, Vomiting, Other See Less

I bought a family size box of Honey Nut Cheerios several months ago. Honestly, they're not my favorite, but I needed a change from my usual gluten-free Chex. I am gluten intolerant, so my food choices are very limited. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what... See More packaged foods and restaurants are safe. So, occasionally I experience a bout of cramping, diarrhea and my other symptoms of "glutening", usually from supposedly gluten-free restaurant meals. I didn't suspect the Cheerios until yesterday. Within a few hours of eating them, the gastro symptoms began and I woke up this morning with a swollen tongue. The last time I was "glutened", recovery took over a month. Ugh!

08/06 update: I feel much better. The cereal was purchased at one of three places. I really don't know which one: Sam's Club, Salisbury, MD (most likely), Food Lion, Onley, VA. Walmart, Onley, VA. All the stores are on located Rt 13, Also known as Lankford Highway in Virginia and North Salisbury Boulevard in Maryland. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Gas, Cramps, Bloating, Swelling

I had not eaten anything other than a handful of Chex mix and a hand full of goldfish all day long, keep in mind. Anyways, I went to dinner and ate a very simple tomato, mozzarella, basil, balsamic vinaigrette grilled cheese sandwich with a few tater tots... See More on the side at 10:00PM last night. It is now 4:00 in the morning, I woke up suddenly out of my sleep and booked it to the bathroom. I was vomiting and crapping at the same time and it was the worst, most violent case of food poisoning I’ve ever had in my lifetime. Do not recommend! | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Something else, Cramps See Less

Just started eating Honey Nut Cheerios two weeks ago as a change in my normal breakfast (been eating Wheat Chex for years). Immediately I started getting short term diarrhea each day I ate it. I couldn’t figure out why this was happening and didn’t correlate it until... See More I researched it on Google. I’m a big cereal guy and had never had this problem with other cereals. As soon as I stopped the Honey Nut Cheerios, the diarrhea stopped. | Symptoms: Diarrhea See Less

I eat Cinnamon Cheerios and Chex every day because they are gluten free. About 2 weeks ago I had severe stomach cramps and diarrhea . I actually checked the cereals to see if they had changed. I went to the doctor. They ran numerous tests that all... See More came back negative. I stopped eating the cereals for about a week and it got better. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Cramps See Less

I love Lucky Charms cereal, I got the Saint Patrick's special in March and everytime I had a bowl, I would immediately have diarrhea and stomach cramps. I assumed it was my hypersensitivity to milk but I had a bowl of Chex with milk and was fine.... See More Last consumption was April 12 and I experienced chills, extreme nausea, diarrhea, and terrible stomach pains. I still felt dull pain for two days after. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Cramps, Chills, Stomach Pain See Less

I ate General Mills Rice Chex on Wednesday and 3-4 hours after I had diarrhea and vomiting at the same time. The last time I was that sick was years ago and i had food poisoning. My daughter ate it Sunday and vomited a few hours after,... See More but I didn’t put two and two together until I got sick. No one else in my household has eaten it, and no one else has gotten sick. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting See Less

A Chex Grill and Wings restaurant performed very poorly during a food safety inspection on July 26, 2021--scoring an 88.50 B. The Chex Grill and Wings in question is located at 2910 Mt Holly-Huntersville Rd. Charlotte, NC.

The inspector saw mold on the provolone cheese that was... See More in the package; the cheese had to be discarded. There were extensive flies inside the Chex Grill and Wings restaurant, there was also a build-up of gnats on the cut onions.

There was no certified food protection manager on site during the inspection. Chicken wings were under temperature sitting in a basket throughout the entire inspection.

Casear, sour cream, greek, and marinara sauces were in a stand up cooler at unsafe temperatures, all above 45F.
There was unwashed lettuce over ready to eat lettuce in plastic containers.

During the inspection the inspector observed 6 cans with dents on the seams and dents in the middle. A manager at Chex Grill and Wings did not know why dented cans are dangerous. Dented cans can lead to botulism, which is a form of food poisoning that attacks the nervous system and cause death if ingested.

The person in charge discarded the dented cans. The inside doors and gaskets in the prep units were in need of cleaning. There were broken tiles in the kitchen area.
