Oysters Cause Severe Illness - The Red House Restaurant, Cambridge Massachusetts

7 years ago reported by user-wvyvt163 business

The Red House Restaurant, Winthrop Street, Cambridge, MA, USA

98 Winthrop Street, Cambridge, 02138 Massachusetts, United States

On Friday night, August 31, our party of four had reservations for 5:30 PM. We sat outside and shared a dozen raw oysters. I ate two. I drank water and one vodka martini. I ate one piece of bread, had shrimp scampi as a main course and passion fruit sorbet for dessert. All of the food tasted fine.
That night I awoke at 1:30 AM with terrible stomach cramps. I had terrible nausea, cold sweating, and terrible diarrhea. My diarrhea lasted about three hours. I felt weak and shaky and was finally able to sleep again at about 4:30 AM.
The following day, I asked the others in my party if they were sick and determined that no others became sick. All of us had the raw oysters, one other person had shrimp scampi as well.
On September 1, my stomach cramps continued. I had bloody stools and flatulence. I felt very weak, had no appetite and I was exhausted. I was able to eat and drink a bit in the afternoon. My stomach cramps continued through the day.
On September 2, I still experience malaise and have some cramping and flatulence. I have little appetite. I have not gone to the doctor. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Fever, Nausea, Flatulence, Weakness, Sweating, Shaking, Cramps, Bloody Stool, Loss of Appetite
