My husband and I ate two breakfasts and two dinners during our hotel stay there July 25-26, 2019. Both of us ended up in the hospital yesterday, July 27, with fever, diarrhea , vomiting and nausea. The first night, I had the ceviche and my husband had
a flatbread appetizer, but neither of us shared this food due to his shellfish allergy. The following morning, we had the breakfast choice that comes with the hotel stay. We chose egg whites instead of the eggs over easy. We also had bacon, fruit and toast. Our toasts were not the same. That evening, we had hummus with veggies and pitas bread and the soy ginger chicken lettuce wraps. We each had a bloody Mary. We shared the meals. I had a small bout of diarrhea that night, but it passed. The following day, Friday the 26th, we ate breakfast there again. This time we ordered the eggs over easy for my husband and over medium for me because the egg whites had been really bland and unpleasant the day before. We had the bacon again and the fruit choice. I had rye bread and he had sourdough. We didn't share any of the breakfast. What sent up a little red flag to me was how fast the breakfast came out. The eggs were room temperature and it made me a little concerned, but I ate them anyway. I got the feeling the breakfast items had been precooked and had been under a heat lamp too long. We also consumed the free ice they hand out at the reception desk. I cant be 100% sure it was this restaurant, but we ate at only one other place in Prescott. We came home to Gilbert and at 10 PM, Friday the 26th, I got a very bad headache. Followed by nausea at 1PM. At which time, I began throwing up and had uncontrollable diarrhea for a couple of hours. I was on the floor of the bathroom and my husband, who was still fine at that time, had to clean things up. At 5 AM, he began vomiting. He has a compromised system due to brain cancer, so he had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. I also had to go to the hospital by ambulance because I was too sick to drive on my own. I had a fever that spiked to 102 and has returned to normal with occasional low grade elevation to 100. My husband became quickly dehydrated and was delirious in the ER. He had to spend the night because he was so dehydrated. He received steroids. He was released this afternoon, Sunday, July 28. I too was given IV fluids and anti nausea medications. we are both home and on bed rest. Headache still here and acid reflux with occasional diarrhea.

Boulangerie Laurentide, a Quebec-based company, has issued a recall for its ketchup products due to the undeclared presence of mustard. The recall affects all batches of the product distributed at their establishment located at 321, rue Félix-Antoine-Savard, in Les Éboulements. The issue was discovered during routine checks
by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ). As of now, no cases of allergic reactions associated with the consumption of these foods have been reported to MAPAQ.
The recall includes the "Fruit Ketchup" and "Green Tomato Ketchup" products. Both products are sold in unitary format glass jars with metal lids. The recall applies to all batches that do not include the mention of the presence of mustard on the label.

Home Style Foods, Inc., of Hamtramck, MI, is voluntarily recalling 43 cases of “Kowalski Simply Sides - Jack’s Potato Salad” due to an incorrect label resulting in an undeclared egg allergen. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or
life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The recalled products were distributed in Michigan to 25 stores including 21 Kroger locations, Diamond Dot Market, Holiday Market Royal Oak, Larry’s Foodland, and Tenuta’s Market. Boucherie Les Saules inc., located at 2070 Boulevard Masson, Québec City, QC, Canada, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, has issued a recall for its Taouk brand vegetable and mushroom and sesame soups. The recall is due to improper storage methods that could
potentially lead to the growth of Clostridium botulinum bacteria. To date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with these products.
The recalled products are
- Mushrooms & sesame (750 ml)
- Vegetables (750 ml)
The products were sold until April 23, 2024, and were packaged in glass jars with black metal lids. They were sold at room temperature at the establishment mentioned above. The products are not showing any signs of spoilage or suspicious odor.
If you have this product at home, do not consume it and return it to the store where it was purchased. Products could be contaminated with the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Foods contaminated with the toxin of this bacterium when ingested can cause the following symptoms: facial paralysis, non-reactive or fixed pupils, difficulty swallowing, drooping eyelids, etc, impaired vision and speech. In severe cases, the disease can cause death.
