Cockroach infestation. An inspector visited in response to two complaints that people saw a roach on their table. The inspector saw six live roaches under an oven and refrigerator, and more than 20 dead roaches in various locations. There were also about 30 mouse... droppings under the ice machine and another refrigerator. There were two other critical violations — the chef didn’t wash hands properly and some shrimp was at an unsafe temperature. Additionally, there was mold around the ice machine dispenser. This was the restaurant’s fourth B or C grade and second closure since 2018; the 2018 closure was for having an opossum, snails and worms in the facility.

Overflowing sewage. Two floor sinks at the sushi bar were clogged and overflowing. That was one of four critical violations. Seven containers of seafood in a refrigerator and a styrofoam icebox were at unsafe temperatures. There were two moldy yams and a rotten jalapeno... in a refrigerator. And there was mold in the ice machine (not touching ice). Among the 10 other violations, the inspector found three dead cockroaches by the water heater but said a thorough inspection showed no evidence of an active infestation.
I just wanted to put my story out there, after I realized that its not just me getting sick! I would pick up a box from time to time in my adult life for fun and always regret it. I would get indigestion, burping up the oats... for hours after I ate it and then having diarrhea a few hours later. I bought a box after my sons insistence last summer (2021). I had a bowl and AGAIN, indigestion and diarrhea! My son didnt get the same reaction. He only described a "bad stomach" and after two more times, never asked for the cereal again. Based on my experiences this has been a problem for WAY LONGER than just a year. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Indigestion, Burping

My 11-year old son had his first bowl of Lucky Charms (ever) at his friend’s house in Chicago on March 10th 2022 and loved it. Back in NJ that’s what he wanted for breakfast in the mornings. On 4 different dates within about 30-60 minutes after he... ate it, he complained about bad heartburn/chest pain, nausea, and stomach pain. Then followed by vomiting all 4 times. This was over a period of 3 weeks. We thought it was from supplements he is taking first or possibly dairy but all these 4 dates and most other days during three weeks he had lucky charms for breakfast. And he was fine with the supplements before he started eating lucky charms. We stopped the cereal and milk a week ago, before we even knew about this being a thing that was happening to people, and he has been fine so far. Now it’s pretty obvious it’s the cereal and nothing else. | Symptoms: Nausea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain, Chest Pain, Heartburn

Kalera Public Limited Company is voluntarily recalling 633 cases of Krunch, Butter, and Romaine whole head variety lettuce with lot codes 001293 and 001294 on the label and sold under the Kalera brand because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can... cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. To the Company’s knowledge, no illnesses have occurred or been reported to date
Distribution was limited to a small number of retail and foodservice customers in Florida. The Company has notified these customers and is working with them to ensure consumers do not receive any of the products affected by the recall. Kalera’s food safety testing procedures indicated the potential presence of Salmonella in some of its whole head lettuce SKUs.
Only those products that are named in this announcement, produced in the Orlando farm and sold in the state of Florida are being recalled. No other Kalera products are affected by the recall. In the event consumers have the recalled products in their refrigerators, they should be discarded and not consumed. To obtain a refund or for more information, consumers may contact the company at (407) 574-8204 M-F from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
In case you are experiencing Salmonella symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.

2 of the 3 ill people report eating dishes that were prepared with raw or undercooked beef but Public Health cannot rule out other possible sources at this time. Public Health is working with the (USDA and Washington State Department of Health to complete further testing, to identify related cases in other counties, and to begin traceback of products in common. Traceback is used to identify points of contamination in the food supply chain.
