Family stopped to eat before heading back to California on 3/27/22. Ate breakfast and about 3 hours later my daughter (age 2) and myself got deathly ill. What should have been an 7.5 hr ride home turned into a 12 hr drive because we couldn’t make it 5 miles before one of us threw up. Took my daughter to ER and is still struggling to keep fluids in. Called them to inform them of what had happened and the manager seemed to have had a bunch of calls about similar situations based on how she handled the call. Said she was going to escalate it to risk management. I just don’t want this to happen to anyones loved ones. My daughter is absolutely miserable and has lost 10lbs and i lost 15lbs from being dehydrated from throwing up and extreme diarrhea. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Dehydration

Food poisoning takes longer than that to hit. It was probably from the night before. I have had food poisoning twice. Both times my sickness happened the next late morning from something I had eaten the evening before.

TIP: Food poisoning can happen that fast! Symptoms can start within minutes if the contamination is chemical or physical. If it is biological it depends, but it can be as soon as 30 minutes (e.g. for Staph).
