Seabass Illness at Resort - Hotel, Maspalomas Canary Islands

Maspalomas, 35100 Canary Islands, Spain
I am currently staying at the Lopesan Baobab Resort from 1st October 2025 to 8th October 2025 with my wife and our 3½-month-old son, travelling from London.Upon arrival, we upgraded our booking from half board to full board for convenience, intending to enjoy all meals on-site and fully relax during our holiday. Unfortunately, our experience has been severely impacted due to what we strongly believe to be foodborne illness contracted from the resort buffet.
On Friday, 3rd October, I consumed two servings of seabass at dinner. Later that night, I began experiencing severe symptoms — vomiting began around midnight and continued multiple times throughout the night, accompanied by dizziness and chills. I sought assistance from a local pharmacy, where I was advised to take medication for diarrhoea and probiotics. While the vomiting subsided, diarrhoea persisted. A follow-up pharmacy visit resulted in a recommendation for antibiotics, which I am currently taking with only slight improvement.
Throughout this period, I refrained from consuming any further food from the hotel buffet. While the hotel did reach out to check on my condition and offered complimentary fruit and water (which I declined), I was disappointed that my concern regarding the fish was denied without investigation. I was also advised to seek hospital care, but as we depart for London on 8th October, I preferred to wait to be seen by my GP at home.
Unfortunately, on 7th October, my wife also became ill after eating a breakfast omelette from the buffet at approximately 10:15–10:30 AM. She began vomiting later that evening and is now experiencing similar symptoms to mine.
As a precaution, I researched past guest experiences and found multiple reports of food-related illnesses at this resort dating back several years, many specifically linked to fish consumption. This raises serious concerns about food safety standards and hygiene protocols currently in place.
For your reference, I have documented photographs of the medication we have been required to purchase and other evidence related to this incident, which I am willing to share.
Given the impact this illness has had on our holiday and well-being — as well as the potential health risk to other guests — I kindly request that this matter be formally investigated. I would appreciate:
• A written response addressing the food hygiene and safety measures in place at the resort.
• Clarification on any actions being taken to ensure the safety of future guests.
• A discussion regarding appropriate compensation for the disruption, distress, and out-of-pocket expenses caused.
Please note that, if necessary, we will be consulting the relevant authorities and consumer protection advisors regarding the next steps to take should this issue remain unresolved or inadequately addressed.
I hope you treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves to prevent future guests from experiencing what we have endured. | Symptoms: Vomiting, Dizziness, Chills

Okay, but why would you post pics of your wife on the internet like that? No respect. I'd be pissed if my husband did that. Sick or not.
