I had half a burrito bowl containing chicken, white rice, black beans, veggies, corn salsa, guac, sour cream, and cheese around 730 pm. Began feeling sick around 830 pm with stomach cramps. Cramps lasted well into the night until 3 am when I began to vomit and experience diahrea, dizziness, and painful stomach cramps. This is an ongoing outbreak, and a number of illness have been reported throughout the United States, and Canada.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis.
Product was in boxes with a “wood-like” cardboard cartons with the Label “Malichita / Z Farms. The Price Lookup Sticker on the individual fruit is labeled “Malichita”.
The company has ceased sales and distribution of the product as FDA and the company continue their investigation as to what caused the problem. Information on what consumers should do with the product and where they can get additional information. Grandy Organics of Hiram, Maine is voluntarily recalling Gluten Free Honey... See More Oat Granola with lot code 231017-03459-1 because it may contain undeclared Coconut. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to coconut run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction should they consume this product. The affected lot of Gluten Free Honey Oat Granola was distributed to FL, to a food service distributor, to a food processor in California, and direct to individual consumers in Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, and New York. No allergic reactions related to this matter have been reported to date.
This product was packed in 25lb cases containing (2) 12.5lbs bags with a UPC of 648960034590. This product was also packed in 3lb bags and sent direct to consumers.
After conducting a thorough tracing exercise, Grandy Organics discovered that the product potentially containing trace levels of coconut was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of coconut.
If consumers have an allergy or severe sensitivity to coconut, they should not consume the product.
