Buffet Illness Cancels Trip - Hotel, Punta Cana La Altagracia

On day 2 of our trip daughter became violently ill at 930 pm only thing consumed was the buffet ice water from buffet and bottles water. At 9am I took her to the clinic and she was diagnosed with food poisoning. Paid almost $700.00 for an IV with 2 medications injected and sent to room with 5 prescriptions and 2 bottles of Pedialyte. The clinic has cases of pedialyte in the hall!!! Spoke to manager said there was nothing they could do that night husband also became violently ill same symptoms. Again reported to manager and nothing was done said no reports ya e been made in past 15 days then changed his story to 30-45 days. Wasted 1/2 our trip in our rooms due to the vomiting and diarrhea stomach cramping and body aches. Been home 3 days back in the US and we are all still trying to recover funny how after we reported to manager that night at buffet (while we dined on white rice toast and bananas) there were MULTIPLE men is suits all watching and pointing at the cooks and going over the fruit and salad buffet!!!! I wanted yogurt but when you grabbed it the containers were room temp. Not even chilled!!! Salmon cheeses and meats sitting where the sun just beat on them!! Now trying to get the money back from my insurance for medical bills and trying to recoop the money from the 2 excursions we prepaid for that we missed due to this!! Will NEVER stay at a RIU EVER AGAIN!!! They are worthless and the housekeeping staff does a terrible job cleaning and give you attitude if you ask for anything had to ask 3 times throughout the day and night for our body soap to be refilled.. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain, Fever, Cramps, Chills, Body Ache
